Bradleys Head Amphitheatre

Sydney, 9 July 2017

This Sunday I decided to go to Bradleys Head Amphitheatre in Sydney Harbour National Park. Yesterday I was thinking to go to farm land in Orange or in Hunter Valley but it seems there is no public transportation to reach those place. I have to drive my own car to get there. But then last night, I had an idea to go to Bradleys head Amphiteathre since I saw the pictures of this place are so beautiful and this place is still in Sydney. I wanted to have less walk this time. I just want to enjoy the ride since it is Sunday and the fare of public transport is cheap a whole day. I planned to take some sunset pictures from Bradleys Head. Also, I planned to take a picture of birthday note for my crush in that beautiful place.

I took a train from Central station to Circular Quay and a ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo wharf. From there I walked on a coastal walk for about 15 minutes. Sydney has a lot of beautiful coastal walks. I have been to Spit-Manly coastal walk, Bondi-Cogee, Royal National Park, and this time Sydney Harbour National Park. I would say, Sydney coastal walks are not any less beautiful than what we have in Bali. And what really interesting is despite Sydney has been packed with concrete buildings and people, there are a lot of wilderness preserved well around it.  Here are some pictures of Sydney Harbour National Park.

There was nothing much to do actually at Bradleys Head other than just sitting in the amphitheatre and enjoying the breeze and the view of Sydney skyline. That's why I waited a little longer until the sun has set. The view was gorgeous. I also took a picture of birthday wish for my crush with the sunset as the background.

There were only me, two other photographers, and a fisherman. It was getting dark and no light at all except from a lighthouse on the other side of the cape. It was only 5.30 pm but the sky has already been pitch black. I decided to walk back to the Taronga Zoo harbour to get back to Circular Quay. I decided to take asphalt road, not the coastal path, since I know it can be dangerous to walk in the darkness in a small path. But way too bad, the asphalt road was also super dark. There was no single street lamp. I walked in a complete darkness in the middle of forest. I walked faster and faster since there was no one and it was so quiet. Luckily it was full moon so the moonlight helped my to see the road. I also can see million stars above me.

I arrived at Taronga Zoo wharf at 6.10 pm after walking for 2 km. A bad luck came again after I saw the last ferry was 5.10 pm. I regretted that I didn't pay attention to the ferry schedule. Then I had to find another route to go back home, either to take bus, train or ferry on another wharf. I depended on my google maps to find the route. I was lost in a beautiful neighbourhood. The path shown on the maps are mostly small path in a small neighbourhood garden covered with thick trees so it is concealed from the main street. I almost gave up and cried, lol. A young lady then saw me and asked me if I need help. The she helped me showing the way to the closest wharf, The South Mosman wharf. She was a really nice lady who was exercising in that neighbourhood. She also offered me a drink or a toilet for a little break. I can't thank her enough for the help that night.

Taronga Zoo wharf has closed since 5.10 pm

What a beautiful neighbourhood with beautiful people who help stranger like me.

South Mosman wharf.

After waiting for 40 minutes alone in South Mosman wharf, the ferry finally came. Even the passenger of the ferry was only me! But the way back home was so beautiful. I planned to have a short walked but it turned to be a long unforgettable journey for me! I walked at least 11 km on that evening.
